McGoldrick’s Lumber Co. was scheduled to blow its big whistle at 9 p.m. on this day in 1925 to mark the beginning of a newly enforced curfew for Spokane youths younger than 14.

The new curfew will begin at 10 p.m. and end at 6 a.m. the next day within a defined “protected zone,” as well as all city parks and other city facilities.
