Four years after the San Francisco 49ers traded everything but the kitchen sink to select quarterback Trey Lance No. 3 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, it appears Lance could already be out of the league.

Lance spent the last two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys after the 49ers traded him away for a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He lost the backup QB job to Sam Darnold in 2023 and asked for a trade to a place where he'd have a chance to be a No. 2 QB.
