Oscar nominations, other awards season events and several LA-based shows have been affected by the California fires.

Oscar nominations for the 97th Academy Awards have been delayed again due to Los Angeles-area fires. The announcement is now set for Jan. 23, with voting extended to Jan. 17.

We are all devastated by the impact of the fires and the profound losses experienced by so many in our community,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang told Variety in a joint statement in January 2025.

The U.K. tabloid The Sun posted a story to its website on Tuesday evening suggesting that the Academy is consulting a committee of A-listers about whether to proceed with the ceremony on March 2.
