The Giants sent former All-Star closer Camilo Doval to the New York Yankees. YES Network’s Jack Curry was first to report, with the teams confirming the deal around 4:20 p.m. Pacific. San Francisco also traded veteran outfielder Mike Yastrzemski to the Kansas City Royals, which MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand first reported.

Yastrzemski, 34, spent six years in the Baltimore Orioles’ farm system before being traded to the Giants in March 2019. Despite making his debut at 28, Yastrzemski established himself as a mainstay in San Francisco’s outfield and played 790 games over seven major-league seasons. During that time, he hit 114 home runs and posted a .768 OPS.

To beef up their bullpen, the Yankees are acquiring Giants reliever Camilo Doval just shortly before the 6 p.m. deadline. Catcher Jesús Rodríguez, right-handed pitcher Trystan Vrieling, infielder Parks Harber and lefty Carlos de la Rosa are all headed to San Francisco.

Doval was sent down to Triple A last season amid struggles but had rebounded this year to regain the Giants' closer role.
