Gil made his return from a lat injury in spring training and allowed five runs on five hits with three strikeouts and four walks in 3.1 innings of work.

Gil was pitching for the Yankees for the first time since he started Game 4 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Oct. 29 at Yankee Stadium.

Luis Gil waited several long months to return to the mound. The New York Yankees’ young right-hander last year became the fourth pitcher in franchise history to be voted AL Rookie of the Year.
