For the second year in a row, Big Bear bald eagle Jackie has delivered a three-egg clutch. Jackie and her mate, Shadow, welcomed the third egg of 2025 shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. The egg arrived three days after the second and six days after the first.

BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. (KABC) -- Big Bear's famous bald eagles, Jackie and Shadow, now have their third egg of the season. The first two eggs from the avian couple arrived earlier this month. Typically, they only have two. With the recent snow up in the mountains, Jackie and her mate have been taking turns keeping the eggs warm.

Why now: Jackie welcomed the third egg Tuesday evening. It was three days after she laid her second egg, which was three days after the first. Three to five days apart is the average for bald eagles, according to the Friends of Big Bear Valley, which manages the popular YouTube livestream of the birds.
