A 1982 Kramer owned and stage-played by the late, great Eddie Van Halen is heading to auction, with the red-black-and-white custom-build expected to become the world’s next seven-figure electric guitar.

A previous Sotheby’s sale for a guitar owned by Van Halen — that one on display in the band’s “Hot for Teacher” music video — netted $3,932,000 in April 2023.

The 1982 Kramer axe graced the hands of not one but two legendary musicians, making it a true piece of rock ‘n’ roll history. It was extensively played by Van Halen on his rock band’s tours in 1982 and ‘83, appearing onstage at concerts in Philadelphia, Venezuela, Brazil, and Argentina. It has, of course, been photomatched to multiple performances.
