The Detroit Tigers showed interest in right-handed reliever Kyle Finnegan during free agency, but he signed with the Washington Nationals instead.

It’s hard to tell the story of the Washington Nationals over the past five years without Kyle Finnegan. On Thursday, however, the Nationals determined that the 33-year-old closer won’t be a part of their next chapter. They sent him to the Detroit Tigers for right-handed pitching prospects Josh Randall and R.J. Sales.

The Washington Nationals acquired right-handed pitchers Josh Randall and R.J. Sales from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Kyle Finnegan on Thursday. Nationals Interim General Manager Mike DeBartolo made the announcement.
