Fifteen people became ill with norovirus-like illness after eating the Louisiana oysters harvested from Area 3 at several New Orleans restaurants between January 15 and January 31. The illnesses were not life-threatening, but two people were hospitalized and have been discharged.

Oysters safe to consume after LDH recall

As tourists flock to New Orleans for the Super Bowl and our iconic food, the Louisiana Department of Health has recalled oysters that were harvested from Area 3. Area 3 is located east of Lake Borgne,

State health officials are investigating norovirus-like symptoms tied to oysters. As a precaution, The Department of Health has shut down harvesting in Area 3 They've ordered a recall of all oysters collected from there since January 10th.
