Nico Hischier recorded a hat trick and his third goal was the final nail in the coffin for the Minnesota Wild, who fell 5-2 to the New Jersey Devils Saturday night in front of the largest crowd of the season — 19,265 — at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Just 29 seconds into the game, the Devils captain put his team up by a goal as he banked home a rebound off Wild netminder Filip Gustavsson's pad. Jesper Bratt took the initial shot off a rush play, popping the puck off Gustavsson's pads with the rebound landing directly on Hischier's stick.

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Minnesota Wild 5-2 on Saturday evening in Saint Paul. Less than 24 hours after a tough loss in Winnipeg, the Devils bounced back with maybe their best 60-minute effort since the holiday break.
