Amir ‘Aura’ Khan is a student manager for McNeese State’s basketball team who went viral before the team’s upset March Madness win

The internet is buzzing about McNeese State University's March Madness upset win over Clemson, but not entirely for the reasons you'd expect.

Khan's joke became reality at the end of February, when he became the first student manager of a college sports team to secure an NIL deal. The senior sports management major has scored endorsement deals with TickPick, Buffalo Wild Wings and Insomnia, the gourmet cookie franchise.

The onetime radioactive coach who is leaving for a power-conference job led the Louisiana university with an enrollment of about 6,200 to a program high.

McNeese State, the No. 12 seed in the Midwest Region, upended No. 5 Clemson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, extending head coach Will Wade’s tenure with the Cowboys.

Some will see him only as the dirtiest coach in the game. At the same time, he might just be the most honest coach in the game.
