Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took holy dips in sacred river waters in the northern city of Prayagraj on Wednesday as he joined millions of people at the Maha Kumbh Mela, a week after dozens died in a stampede at the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela, taking a sacred dip at the Sangam and inaugurating infrastructure projects worth INR 5,500 crore. The event saw participation from international leaders and celebrities and had a massive turnout of over 12.

MAHAKUMBH NAGAR Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam - the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati - and said he felt “blessed to be at the Mahakumbh.” The PM held ‘rudraksh’ beads in his hand during the bathing ritual.

PM Modi to visit Mahakumbh on Feb. 5, take a holy dip at Sangam, and offer prayers. He will spend 2.5 hours in Prayagraj before returning.
