Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Thursday they believe killed an 80-year-old woman whose body was found in a suitcase on the banks of the Willamette River earlier this week, officials said Friday.

The body was found around 1:15 p.m. on the bank of the Willamette River near 15200 NW Gillihan Road. The body was recovered and is now with the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The person’s identity is also part of the investigation, officials said.
