The Auburn Tigers hosted potential recruits on the Plains a week ago for their official visits. One of these recruiting targets was defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland. Cleveland hails from Parker High in Birmingham, Ala. and was teammates with defensive tackle Jourdin Crawford, who signed with the Tigers in the 2025 recruiting class.
It felt like the Tigers were waiting around to die Saturday night. Finally, in the 10th inning, the Guardians obliged them.
Kyle Manzardo started the 10th with a double into the left field corner off Brenan Hanifee (2-2) to score Ramirez, the automatic runner at second, for a 4-3 lead. After Carlos Santana walked, Angel Martinez doubled to score Manzardo. A sacrifice fly by Bo Naylor and single by Nolan Jones ended the scoring.
On Saturday, Cleveland won its fifth straight game against the Tigers between regular season and postseason play. Amazingly, the Guardians' 7–5 10-inning victory tied the all-time series at 1,161 games apiece. Sunday is the rubber match, and as all baseball fans know, the six best words in sports are Game Two Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-Five.
Currently, Detroit is sitting first in the Central, a few games ahead of both Guardians and Minnesota Twins. There are plenty of seats available for the series against San Francisco, including a great opportunity to see the Bengals play on Memorial Day. Monday, May 26 (1:10 p.m. ET)
