A longtime southern Minnesota farmhand was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in state prison for the murder of his boss. Travis Joel Bauer, 48, of Winthrop, received the sentence after being found guilty of second-degree murder by a jury in Sibley County District Court in October.

Travis Joel Bauer, 48, has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison, followed by over 10 years on supervised release.

Prosecutors say 48-year-old Travis Bauer was in debt and in danger of losing his home, and trust documents indicated he would benefit by Dennis Weitzenkamp's death.

GAYLORD — The man who fatally shot a Sibley County farmer in 2022 was sentenced to prison Wednesday.

A Winthrop man has been sentenced to prison after a jury in Sibley County found him guilty of 2nd degree murder back in October. A judge sentenced 48 year old Travis Bauer to 30 and a half years in prison for murder.
