The tunnel can be operated with air or other gases (the mass flow rates are relatively small). The tunnel is approximately 30 ft (9 m) long, not including the assembly used to heat the incoming flow.
Measuring air flow in an HVAC duct can be a tricky business. Paddle wheel and turbine flow meters introduce not only resistance but maintenance issue due to accumulated dust and debris.
