The Boston College Board of Trustees has named John T. “Jack” Butler, S.J., Haub Vice President for University Mission and Ministry, as Boston College’s 26th president. He will succeed University President William P.

Boston College made the announcement that the Board of Trustees has selected Father John “Jack” Butler as the University’s 26th president, after current University President Willliam Leahy steps down in the summer of 2026.

The Rev. John “Jack” Butler currently serves as the university's vice president for mission and ministry. He'll succeed the Rev. William Leahy, who has served as president for nearly three decades.
