The family of Greensboro painter Reverend Irving Hines said Hines never took formal art classes. They say in between working for the RJ Reynolds Tobacco company and then becoming a pastor at Upper Room Church of God, he painted subjects he was passionate about, like nature and religion.

The only Georgian to occupy the Oval Office visited the Augusta area at least once, but his family’s roots here date back more than two centuries.
