Lorain Police Department officer Phillip Wagner, 35, was critically wounded in what police described as an "ambush attack." He died on Thursday in a hospital "despite the valiant efforts of fellow officers, first responders and medical professionals," the Lorain Police Department said.
LORAIN, Ohio – Three Lorain police officers were wounded Wednesday afternoon in an ambush shooting off Colorado Avenue. The incident took place near the Colorado Avenue Industrial Park at the dead end of River Bend Drive.

Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Maj. A.J. Torres also confirmed to WJW that authorities found explosives in the suspect’s car at the scene of the ambush. Suspicious items were also found and removed from the suspect’s home on North Lakeview Boulevard, officials confirmed Wednesday night.
