Paris Saint Germain learned that they will come up against 6-time Champions League winner Liverpool in today's Round of 16 draw. Heading into the draw, which took place today in Nyon, Switzerland, PSG already knew they would face a monumental challenge in the next round.

The draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 will be announced on Friday, 21 September at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

These sides join the teams that qualified by finishing in the top eight places of the inaugural league phase. From first place to eighth, these are: Liverpool, Barcelona, Arsenal, Inter, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Lille and Aston Villa.

The draw for the round of 16 will take place on February 21, 2025. Teams from the group stage, who finished in the top 8, are seeded, while the four knockout phase playoff winners will be unseeded.

Manchester City were the biggest name to crash out at that stage, with Real Madrid, who beat them 6-3 on aggregate, drawn to face rivals Atletico Madrid. That's one of two ties with teams from the same country as Bayer Leverkusen were put against Bayern Munich in an all-German contest.
