The U.S. Senate's massive budget bill that passed on Tuesday will make it harder to develop wind and solar energy projects, despite the removal of some contentious provisions, industry advocates and lawmakers said.

“The intentional effort to undermine the fastest-growing sources of electric power will lead to increased energy bills, decreased grid reliability, and the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs,” American Clean Power Association CEO Jason Grumet said in a press release.

The Senate budget bill would have imposed an excise tax on certain wind and solar projects with foreign materials.
