Met Office weather maps have shown how cold it will get this weekend as temperatures are set to hit -5C in some areas on Friday, January 10. Despite the cold weather snap, it is set to get a little warmer through the weekend, especially on Sunday, January 12.

An 18-hour weather warning is currently covering Merseyside. The new yellow weather warning is for ice and the Met Office has warned that scattered wintry showers which may lead to icy patches and travel disruption.
