The volunteer anglers from APWC-TU initiated the citizen science study to determine if local brook trout are genetically distinct from other native and stocked populations in New York state.

The DEC plans to place a total of 1,909,450 catchable-sized brook, brown, and rainbow trout in New York waters this spring. All of these fish were raised in wild trout fisheries in New York State.
