The Houston Chronicle, Texas's top selling newspaper, has published an editorial fiercely critical of Governor Greg Abbott over his rhetoric and decision to deploy Texas National Guard troops in response to protests against immigration enforcement,

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says he ordered the deployment of more than 5,000 Texas National Guard troops across the state, along with more than 2,000 state police.

The massive deployment represents more than 20% of the state’s military forces and roughly half of the Texas Department of Public Safety commissioned officers.
