The Farmers Insurance Open takes place this week at Torrey Pines, with a host of quality golfers aiming for glory in this tournament. However, in a few weeks we could watch another tournament on this course. It is the Genesis Invitational, which will be held from February 13 to 16.

On a windy but beautiful Tuesday afternoon, overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Torrey Pines Golf Course, pro golfers expressed joy and delight on the eve of the Farmers Insurance Open.

The Genesis Invitational, which is hosted by Tiger Woods, is among the PGA Tour’s eight “signature” events, with limited fields of the tour’s top players and increased prize money. Its $20 million payout is more than double the $9.3 million being offered this year at the Farmers.

Golfweek has learned that the PGA Tour is in the final stages of negotiations to move the 2025 Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines in La Jolla.

Torrey Pines is hosting the Farmers Insurance Open this week saving Genesis the difficulty of preparing for a major event in less than a month.

The tournament was scheduled to take place from Feb. 13 to 16 at The Riviera Country Club, which is in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.
