The U.S. Open field has officially been trimmed down. The second round of the tournament at Oakmont Country Club came to a close on Friday night and only three participants were under par. Sam Burns led all golfers at three under par while J.J. Spaun was second at two under and Victor Hovland rounded out the top three at one under par.

By Frank Pingue OAKMONT, Pennsylvania (Reuters) -Defending U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau and record six-times runner-up Phil Mickelson were the high-profile players to miss the halfway cut at Oakmont Country Club on Friday.

Though contracts for those who signed with LIV have not been made publicly available, it has been largely understood in the golf industry that DeChambeau signed for north of $100 million on a deal that ends in 2026.
