After ten epic years, Outlander is finally coming to an end with an eighth and final season.

Outlander’ s seventh season was based on Diana Gabaldon’s seventh book in her Outlander series, An Echo in the Bone. Season eight is supposed to be an adaptation of her eighth novel, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. Gabaldon just finished the series’s ninth book, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. She is supposed to be working on her tenth book.

The show did get renewed for an eighth season (YAY!) but…it’ll be its last (not yay). Starz announced in January that it’ll be wrapping up the Outlander story with season 8, which means the network will figure out how to end the show without knowing how the book series ends, à la Game of Thrones (here’s hoping they pull off a better ending though.)

With the seventh season of Outlander underway, fans can’t help but look ahead at the eighth and final season of the beloved historical romance series, based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon. While there is still certainly much to take place within the remaining final episodes of season 7,
