Protests large and small were set for Saturday throughout the Bay Area, from banner-hangings on overpasses, to major gatherings in San Jose’s St. James Park, and in Oakland’s Wilma

The protests, known as the No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance, are a response to what the organisers describe as a shift towards authoritarianism and the militarisation of democracy. They are expected to be the largest since Donald Trump began his second term in the White House.

More than 1,000 demonstrators are expected to rally in West Palm Beach today for 'No Kings Day,' a nationwide event protesting Donald Trump on his birthday.

There were funnel cakes, stands of festival bling and American flags aplenty. Also, the spray of tear gas against nonviolent marchers in Atlanta, rolling waves of anti-Trump resistance coast to coast and a confrontation in Los Angles.

While the president contends that the L.A. protests against his immigration policy have been chaotic, the scenes are not as violent.
