President Trump and Mexican President Sheinbaum said they agreed to send more troops to the border and tackle U.S. arms smuggling into Mexico in exchange for a pause on tariffs.

President Trump announced the pause after Mexico agreed to deploy 10,000 troops to reinforce its border. The Mexican president said the deal also commits the Trump administration to fight the flow of weapons going south.

"Other countries have tried to outmuscle Donald Trump and so far they're about 0 and 20," said Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller.

Hegseth wrote, "Border Security is national security" before arriving in Texas Monday. Fort Bliss, one of the U.S. Army's installations in Texas, began providing support last week in response to the national emergency declared by Trump. Military aircrafts are now being used to conduct deportation flights to Latin America.
