A man intentionally drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street as revelers were celebrating the new year, officials said. Sources told CBS News the driver is dead.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on Bourbon Street, the legendary party district in the heart of New Orleans. The truck driver apparently drove through or around barricades meant to stop traffic from entering the street, officials said.

A driver crashed his truck into a crowd at high speed in New Orleans' French Quarter in the wee hours of New Year's Day then opened fire, killing at least 10 people and injuring more than 35, city officials and police said.
