Nov 6, 2012 · Playing on the "Rock Pile" for 83 years was the best of times and the worst of times - depending on whether you were the home team or the visitor. Officially known as McDevitt Field, the Rock Pile has been the ancient home for the Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, Pa.) football team.

We repurposed the bleachers and football field at the historic "Rock Pile" at the former Bishop McDevitt High School. We have harvested a yield of over 16,000 pounds of vegetables with planned increases of about 25% a year over the subsequent years as we improve the garden space and soil makeup.

Bishop McDevitt Catholic High School was dedicated on December 8, 1958 and began educating students the following day. The school celebrated its first graduating class in June of 1961. The historic Class of 1961 held their commencement ceremony in the school auditorium .

Bishop McDevitt High School is a private, Roman Catholic, co-educational high school in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1918 as "Catholic High School" in Harrisburg and renamed in 1957 to honor the memory of the Most Reverend Philip R. McDevitt, fourth bishop of Harrisburg and founder of the school.
