Jan 8, 2025 · I've been playing through all of the Souls games with friends and we're just about to wrap up DS2. As I was curious about the changes made between versions, I ran a side game on my PS3 and kept up the pace with what we were doing in SotFS. After beating OG DS2 Yesterday, I feel overall it's a much better experience than SotFS.

Dec 10, 2022 · I like DS2 precisely because of its "lack" of interconnectivity. DS1 got that right and DS3 did something a little different (it was more like a giant circle from beginning to end). DS2 on the other hand has a central hub and you head out to essentially 4 different main destinations "linearly". I appreciated this approach on replays.

Oct 10, 2020 · Make sure it is made for Scholar of the First tho instead of OG Dark Souls 2. Besides the more accurate ambient occlusion, Scholar of the First Sin at times looked like OG Dark Souls 2 with an ENB Filter already on it, but some zones look almost exactly the same so I reckon this has to do with the reworked level specific postprocessing.

Jan 1, 2019 · Scholar of the First Sin is the only version of DS2 I've finished so I can't speak for the changes made between it and the OG version. But the gank squad enemy placement is absurd. Beyond that I did love the areas, though I do wish Drangleic had the same kind of interconnectivity DS1 had. The bosses I found mostly very boring though.

Aug 14, 2021 · Between the two different game versions, the NG+ changes, and the expansiveness of the game itself, DS2 is the meatiest entry which must be why, despite being my least favourite, it has managed to become my most replayed Souls title lol

Nov 28, 2020 · Playing Scholar first over the original is always an experience I enjoy reading about, since I had played through the original several times by the time it came out. Heide's Tower in particular is so jarringly different in enemy layout that I instantly felt like it made a ton of changes just to fuck with people who played the original.

Dec 30, 2020 · I still think DS2: Scholar of the First Sin is a great game. You can't really get into it with the mindset of the first Dark Souls though and have to play it much more carefully, but I think it's a great Souls game that does a lot of very interesting things when it comes to lore and gameplay, some of which I'm sad that DS3 dropped.

Dec 10, 2022 · DS2 adds AI invaders. So, even if you play offline, you still get that 'feel'. Scholar of The First Sin version added even more AI invaders, as well. Unless you are very familiar with the game, it can sometimes be tough to tell if an invader is AI or a real person.
