May 19, 2021 · Tobi and Deidara catch the three tails. That happens at the end of the arc after everyone else leaves. Thats pretty much the only thing that happens in that arc that has a bearing on anything else. That and the fact that the 3 tails isn't sealed inside anyone.

Orochimaru also stated 3 tail Naruto wasn’t at Sasukes level. Pretty sure Naruto didn’t have Rasenshuriken yet either, whereas Sasuke already had a stronger fire ball jutsu than Itachi, a mastered Chidori and Chidori variants, and had Kirin in his back pocket. When Rin was killed the 3 tails was "destroyed" in a sense, but just like matter the chakra that makes up the tailed beasts cannot be destroyed, it just changes forms. Instead of being a 3 tailed turtle Isobu just became a ton of chakra that spread out all over the place.

Jan 5, 2021 · Orochimaru stated that a 4 tails Naruto was still no match for Sasuke, pre Orochimaru absorption. It’s not a stretch to argue that even a 5 tails Naruto wouldn’t be able to beat Hebi Sasuke (though I think he would). It’s 4+ R2: None, he’ll get defeated either way.

BUT Deidara comes in half assed with Tobi and straight fleeces his ass with an explosive fish. BUT his C3 was stopped by Gaara and his spiders that were INSIDE of Gaara's sand shell barely took him out.
