Jul 25, 2013 · My last boat had a 50HP Nissan oil injected main motor and a 8HP kicker. Both were purchased new with the boat in 1999. The main lasted 2800 hours before it quit. I kicked a rod bearing at that point in time this was 2006, when it died and was replaced by a E-tech then a Suzuki. The little motor was still kicking when I sold the boat this year.

Boat is all fiberglass construction except for the deck and transom. There in no rot in either location. Boat was modeled after the Jester-scow that was very popular design on the Eastern Shore of MD. Power is a 2004 40hp Nissan 2-stk outboard. Motor is in great condition and run smoothly at all rpms.

Hi guys..wondering if anyone has experience with Nissan outboards. I have a 2008 15 hp four stroke L/S (basically a Tohatsu, same parts) that runs great, but at high speed it starts missing (3/4 throttle and up). This is my first season venturing into the world of four strokes, always had Evinrudes. Any help would be appreciated!

Is it really that difficult to rebuild an outboard?
Apr 4, 2003 · I have rebuilt one outboard motor (or any other internal combustion engine for that matter). It was a 1988 Evinrude 225hp. Bought the boat with every dime I could muster and motor blew after second time out. Could not afford to have it rebuilt for around $4000 from local guys.

My friend has the previous model 3.5hp Hangkai and he paid only $370 for it brand new in box, free shipping just over a year ago. That motor weight less then 20lbs! Him and I had ran this motor alot on his 14ft kaboat.

Dec 1, 2012 · I've never done this with a larger motor, only the 5 horse Nissan I had on my jonboat. My Papa (granddad on my mom's side) and my dad would help me, I was 11 my first time. I'd set the motor on a stand and put a garbage can under it filled with enough water. Then, I'd pull-start the motor and let it run out of gas on its own.
