Jun 11, 2009 · Most likely the difference between butter and shortening. Personally, I prefer chocolate chip cookies to be soft only when they are hot out of the oven. After that, they should become crispy or crunchy, but not extremely hard. That's why it's disappointing to me that Nestle's changed their on-the-package recipe for "Tollhouse" cookies.
