Dec 28, 2019 · Just a splitter will give you the same image on both monitors. If your computer has a second output like a second hdmi, vga or dmi port you can try hooking up the second monitor to that to get your second display. There are usb to hdmi listed but I have never tried them.

I have purchased an HDMI splitter in order to connect the 2 monitors via HDMI to the laptop (since it only has one HDMI port). However, the new monitor is not showing an extension of the screen.

May 11, 2018 · That adapter is a replicator. You can't use extend mode because HDMI does not support running multiple independent displays out of a single output. Only DisplayPort does, and also USB-C and Thunderbolt since they use DisplayPort for video data.
