Jan 3, 2010 · 99% of the "ratings" and additives on 2 stroke premix oil (and TCW3) have to do with emissions, not lubricating properties. Straight 30w (or any other motor oil) will probably smoke a lot more than you're used to but your sleeve, piston, rings, and main bearing will not know the difference.

Dec 4, 2009 · Several 2-stroke oils have stabilizers in them, but I do not think they have enough to keep gas fresh up to a year or even two as stabilizers do. I use a high quality Elf 100% synthetic JASO FD 2-stroke oil for air cooled motorcycles and Sta-Bil red formula in my 2-stroke premix super gasoline. Sta-Bil works well for me.

Aug 10, 2012 · # of oil refineries owned/operated by Castrol = 0 = hype It's simple really. Read the oil requirements of your saw (JASO FC, FD, FJ and/or ISO-L-EGO, etc.), then find the most economical oil that meets these requirements. All else is hype.

Apr 27, 2014 · I have some Ace Hardware ashless 2 stroke oil that says it meets spec for Toro and Echo (I have both) which call for 1:50. Problem is it doesn't specify exactly which standard it is made to (JASO or ISO). Safe to assume that an oil suitable to be mixed at 1:50 meets the JASO FD spec? The Husky manual states if the oil is JASO FB then mix to 1:33.

I've blown up more high hp 2-stroke motors than I care to admit, there seems to be 3 common modes of failure: Lack of lubrication Lean burn down Detonation Not to say this oil is bad, it just might need to be mixed at a higher ratio. maybe 40:1 instead of 50:1.
