Standard Proctor compaction tests were conducted on a sandy clay (35% sand, 55% clay, and 10% silt), taken from a borrow pit. The tests suggested a maximum dry unit weight of 20.7 kN/m³. The sandy clay in the borrow pit has a porosity of 65%, a water content of 5.2%, and the specific gravity of solids of 2.7. A roadway is to be constructed using this soil, at 95% of the maximum dry unit weight and a water content of 8.4%.a) Determine the dry unit weight of the soil in the field (i.e. roadway).b
